RiverTrail at dusk

Yesterday, I went biking. I like to mountain bike down by the Arkansas river, on the River Trail. It's basically amazing. We were out late yesterday, and biking at dusk. Most of the people were off of the trail or headed back in the direction that we were traveling.

We came across a variety of interesting creatures but the most powerful encounter would be the deer. We were riding through some of the trails that pass around the soccer fields, and all of the sudden, this mass movement of, well, deer!

They were in their habitat, uninterrupted, just doing their thing. Obviously, they saw us first (or heard us) because we didn't see them until they began to move: first a slow gallop, then an all out run, sprint, back into the woods. Not to be seen again.

I quickly realized that the deer could have taken me off my bike and trampled me over. This did not happen. Instead, I got to slow down, and enjoy watching the deer (about 20 or so) in their natural form.
