Remember the King: amongst trials and joys

Even amongst our most ridiculous days, calling out to our Savior is the only option. As our theology tells us, there is no other solution compared to Him. He brings us all joy, peace, comfort, hope and most importantly, He provides us with the greatest eternal reward: our salvation.

The Psalmist of the 42nd Psalm, scribes relatable words:

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
   my salvation and my God.

My soul is cast down within me
therefore I remember you. (vs. 5-6)

The psalmist recognizes in writings just previous to this one that he previously came to the Lord with a glad heart and willing praises, even leading the people in songs of praise. But now he pants for the living God, even as the deer is thirsty and searches out watering streams. Ups and downs, can we not all relate?

As believers and followers of Christ, we can take hope in the revelation revealed by the psalmist: even in times of trouble, we can still find our hope in the Lord of the universe. Nothing will shut us away from him (see Romans 8) and nothing can keep us from his presence. It's simply our choice: choose to be with him, or choose to be without him.

I choose, as hard as it may be sometimes, to be with him:

My soul is cast down within me
therefore I remember you.

It's nothing more than simple act of remembering. In the midst of our trial, and even in the midst of our joys, we must choose to remember him. Here specifically, we read the writings where the psalmist chooses to remember his God, the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings, the one of salvation and everything.

Choose today to follow him in your trials and joys.
